Tour Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barreirinhas and take you to the Preguiças River, where we'll hop aboard a speedboat headed for Tapuio.
We'll stop to see how cassava flour is made by hand, an ingredient widely used in Maranhão's cuisine. This product and its production have become the town's main economic activity.
Next, we'll get back on the boat and sail for 40 minutes to the Marcelino Women Artisans' House. In this beautiful spot, a local association works by hand with the buriti palm.
You'll watch the women of this community work the fibers of the moriche palm, as the buriti palm is also known. We'll admire the unique handicrafts they make, and if you'd like, you can take home a lovely souvenir like a picture or a bag.
Finally, we'll head back to your hotel in Barreirinhas, where we'll wrap up the activity after 3 hours.
