On our unforgettable dolphin and whale watching activity in the Gulf of Taranto, you'll get to see dolphins and sperm whales swimming and jumping in the Ionian Sea.
Activity Details
The Ionian coast is the perfect place to see dolphins and whales in the wild. We'll meet at Lido La Capannina and set sail in search of these magnificent marine animals.
During our boat trip, we'll hear legends about the province of Taranto, or "Taras" as it was called in ancient times. We'll also learn all about the importance of the sea in this part of Apulia. Once we've put some distance between ourselves and the coast, we'll try to spot some dolphins and sperm whales swimming in the Ionian Sea.
We'll see these incredible animals jumping, doing pirouettes and swimming at full speed next to the boat. Afterwards, we'll round off our experience by sharing a delicious snack with drinks on the boat.
After this 2-hour boat trip, we'll return to the starting point.
Dolphin & Whale Sightings
The Gulf of Taranto is one of the best places in Italy to see dolphins and other cetaceans. However, animals are unpredictable. The sighting of a greater or lesser number of animals will depend on various factors such as the weather at the time or the breeding and rearing seasons of the different species.
